PRESS RELEASE 10-22-2012
The 8th Annual Christmas Food & Toy Drive is gearing up! Come See Santa!
Local Antelope Home Featured on TLC Christmas Special in 2009. Airs indefinitely each Christmas on TLC!
For the past nine years, Daniel and Mary Gromer have been turning their home at 4025 Diane Drive in Antelope into a holiday wonderland. There are new displays and surprises added every year. Three years ago, HGTV wanted to feature their home on a holiday light display program, but the Gromers weren’t able to put up all of the lights by the HGTV deadline, so they had to decline the invitation. In 2009, a TV producer from cable’s TLC contacted them to showcase their home and their Christmas Toy and Food Drive on the channel’s “Invasion of the Christmas Lights” program which will air worldwide on TLC on Sunday, December 6th.
The TLC crew visited the Gromers’ home on several occasions to interview them and document the progress of the lights. “The Reveal” was filmed on Friday, November 6, 2010. Their house was one of six homes nationwide to be featured on the show.
The Gromer's house, which was named by local families “The Lighted Gingerbread House”, has been featured on Dave Bender's “12 Daves of Christmas”, Fox News, Good Day Sacramento, KXTV and mentioned on KFBK radio. This year, “The Lighted Gingerbread House” is #1 on the “12 Daves of Christmas” with 160,000+ lights.
Daniel and Mary Gromer, Pastors of Destiny Faith Center in Antelope, love to see the smiles when people put food and toys in the donation barrels. “We know it will make a difference in people’s lives, give them joy in a time of need and hopefully make a change in their lives. Every year we are able to help people that otherwise would go without at Christmas. We want to make an impact and a difference in their lives.”
This is the 7th year the Gromer’s have hosted the Christmas Toy and Food drive from their Antelope home. They encourage folks to come see their display and donate what they can in order to help those who go without. Kids love to drop toys and food off in the donation barrels.
